Professors said to be in grievance process over UTRGV hiring practices

EDINBURG — Four tenured professors have pending grievances against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley over its hiring practices, said the head of a faculty association representing them.

To be eligible to transition from the University of Texas-Pan American and Brownsville to UTRGV, faculty couldn’t have had any disciplinary action taken against them in the past seven years, said Mary Aldridge Dean, the executive director of the Texas Faculty Association, an organization that advocates on behalf of professors.
