TFA Faculty Members at El Paso Community Collage recently held a school supply drive for needy students who live in their community. Congratulations on your success. At the spring Board Meeting TFA offered matching funds to any organized chapter who participated and the EPCC faculty accepted the offer. Thanks for your hard work.
At the recent Board of Directors meeting and Representative Assembly three former TFA State Presidents who retired within the last year were recognized for their service to TFA and Higher Education in Texas by current State President Michael Coulehan. Between the three of retires, they had a combined total of over 100 years of teaching at the former UTPA campus in Edinburg.

TFA-Brazosport members donated a wide variety of items ranging from original artwork, to jewelry in support of the annual Gator Grab scholarship silent Auction. In addition to donating under the TFA name, members also bid and won a number of significant items which both aided students and demonstrated the commitment of our local to the support and success of our students.

On October 19th, 2012 the University of Texas Pan American Chapter hosted a meet and greet at Schneider’s Restaurant in McAllen for members from three of the lower Rio Grande TFA Chapters: UTPA, UTB, and STC. There were 78 TFA members in attendance. This gave members a chance to socialize and meet their local Representatives before the 83rd Legislative Session began.

On January 18th and 19th four hundred educators, legislators, and community members participated in a forum organized by the El Paso Teachers Association to solve problems caused by budget cuts and high stakes testing. TFA members from both UTEP and EPCC served on panels as moderators, and lead focus groups on Saturday following the panel. The El Paso Student Chapter of TSTA participated as well.

January 30th was Valley Day at the Capitol. Two busses drove up from the Lower Rio Grande Valley to participate in the activities which included music, photos with Valley Reps, and talking to Legislators.
